Chromecast Images and Desktop Backgrounds

On the old version of my website, I always intended to write some blog posts and never got around to it, so this time I wanted to actually start off with a post ready to go. I know that a lot of people find my work because one of my images (usually the one with the mountains) shows up on their Chromecast or Sony TV, and they Google it. So honestly this blog post is a sort of an “SEO” catch, to make it easy for people to find what they’re looking for.

Anyway, below are the two images I have that are shown as Chromecast backgrounds. I also have links below for higher resolution versions of the images, if you’d like to use them as desktop backgrounds. If you don’t know which resolution to use, see the note at the bottom of this post.

This first image is of a mountainous valley in Greenland, taken in August 2017, on a trip led by photographer Max Rive. You can find more information about it in the (hover) caption of my portfolio image.

This next image is a waterfall in Marin County, California in February 2017, after a historic season of rainfall. This is the landscape orientation version of the image, however, I actually think the portrait (vertical) orientation is better. You can check that out here, in my portfolio.

Additionally, while I’m here, I thought I might include a few more images that make for nice desktop backgrounds on a computer…

Below is an image of extremely rare conditions in Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park, BC, Canada, taken in July 2017. You can read more about it in my portfolio, here.

This next image is of photographer Rodrigo Viveros, whom I met on this 7-day winter backpacking trip in the Yukon, led by Marc Adamus. You can read more about the image here (including the extensive Photoshop work, as a warning if you care about that).

This image is an aerial panorama of sunrise in Central Utah, taken with a DJI Mavic Pro drone. It was taken in December 2019, on another trip led by Marc Adamus. You can read more information about the photo here.

The last two images are self-portraits, both taken on the same Greenland trip as the first one, in August 2017. The first one in particular is one of the most meaningful images I’ve ever taken, but the composition is not my own. It was done as a a replica of Max’s photo “Somewhere Only We Know”, with his permission (he took us to that spot). I talk a little bit more about the importance of that photo to me in the About Me section of this site.
